Call to Order:

Pledge of Allegiance (Led by Samuel Rock- Co-Chair)

Short intro: Home Depot Supports Veterans (Helga and Rosa)

  • Home Depot Veteran Housing Grants
    • The Home Depot Foundation’s (THDF) Veteran Housing Grants Program award grants to nonprofit organizations for the new construction or rehabilitation of permanent supportive housing and transitional facilities for veterans. Awards typically range from $100,000 to $500,000.
    • Apply at: https://corporate.homedepot.com/grants/veteran-housing-grants
  • Service Connected Veterans w/ 10% or more get a 10% discount, all other veterans receive discounts on certain holidays
  • LaDonna Duckett inquired about company policy for hiring ex-offenders; Rosa answered that Home Depot performs a drug screen and background check on all candidates and determinations for hire are made at the corporate office in Atlanta

George Vukovich (Co-Chair) made announcement that one table will not be video recorded for Live stream on Facebook

Introduction of New Members (Led by Samuel Rock- Co-Chair)

Old Business:

  • A discussion was had on a motion to amend Bylaws to read that no officer can serve on more than one CVEB.
  • Frederick went over the mission of the CVEB
  • Tom Grant made a motion to not amend Bylaws; Motion was seconded by Dan Campbell
  • All were in favor

  • DeAnn Wandler: Personal Story

 

New Business:

  • Co-Chair:
  • George announced last month that he will be stepping down; this will be his last meeting
  • Nominations were taken from the floor for Co-Chair:

Dan Campbell (Nominated by Doug Silvern)

  • Retired Air Force Major; was injured in Afghanistan and later launched non-profit called JustServe.org
  • Serves as officer for Frederick MD CVEB

Jamila Fleet (Nominated by Simone Hawthorne)

  • Army Veteran and CEO at Innovative Solutions Technology
  • Voting will take place next meeting; any submissions for nominations please submit

  • The vision for 2018:
  • Veterans Day Parade
  • Samuel Rock (Co-Chair) shared words from Frederick White (Veterans Experience Office) on George Vukovich (Co-Chair) and thanked him for his dedication as a founding member of the Four State CVEB
